While watching, it is worth being attentive to the changes made between the production we have documented in our hard copy of the text and this iteration. The performance includes fewer monologues and reorganizes them somewhat, and it would be interesting to consider what is retained and what is dropped, and what gets shuffled. As well, in performance Smith's speech is mostly but not entirely faithful to the text as it is written. Given her interest in enacting the character of her interviewees through a rigorous performance of their speech, what are we to make of her interruptions, variations, improvisations within their words?
